MLW Imports is expanding our operation to include school horses:
We’ve seen what riding schools and trainers are having to pay for lesson horses, and they usually end up being, shall we say…….quirky, and not exactly sound.
And lets be honest:
The horse world is full of dodgy dealers. We’re looking to change that in our own small way.
How it works:
We work with partners to extract horses from the slaughter pipeline. These horses are typically standardbreds. We conduct a full health and soundness evaluation, addressing any issues we find. They have their teeth floated, feet trimmed, coggins drawn, and are fully vaccinated according to AAEP guidelines. We quarantine them for a month during which they undertake training. They undergo a full assessment of behavior and ability.
What you get:
The horses we obtain have typically been used as buggy horses and are very easy to handle and work with. We have an upfront pricing structure based on age and activity level (see below). We release all veterinary records to you and offer a one month trial period so you can determine suitability. We do require a veterinary reference for all sales.

AKA: Alfie arrived 2/11/24 and is currently quarantining. He loaded and traveled quietly and is so far proving easy to handle. He jogs sound, has a current negative coggins, and received initial vaccines. He has been ridden in the field and out on the roads and has shown himself to be reliable.
